Confidentiality
What do you mean "don't judge me." Haha, when most people come into session they feel that I will be posting a blog about them immediately after their session. Or that part of my job is to judge them and then they will feel like they have to do the right thing... Well as you can see from above, I'm pretty much wondering what these concepts are all about. When you step into therapy everything that you say will be kept confidential. This means that it is place for safe sharing and emotional exploration. The world of therapy is endless in its abilities and limits however there are limits of confidentiality. As a mandated reporter it is important for me to explain that although our time spent is between us, there are some instances in which the law requires me to break that confidentiality and take proper precautions.
So if you are looking for a safe place to come dish, I'll be here waiting :)
Those Exceptions Are:
1) If a client intends to harm themselves
2) If a client intends to harm another
3) If there is suspected child abuse, elder abuse, or dependent abuse (Past or Present)
4) If appointed to release records by a court of law
